    Aamir murder appeal over vehicle


    Police investigating the murder of Cardiff teenager Aamir Siddiqi are appealing for information about a car seen in the area the day he died.Aamir, 17, was stabbed at his home in the suburb of Roath when he opened the door to two men.

    Officers want to trace a silver Volvo XC90 car which was seen driving around Roath and neighbouring Cathays on Sunday, 11 April.

    Two men in their 30s have been charged with Aamir's murder.

    Ben Hope, 36, and Jason Richards, 35, both from Cardiff, appeared in Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday accused of murdering Aamir and the attempted murder of his father Iqbal, 68 and his mother, Parveen, 55.

    South Wales Police said the Volvo was recovered in the Adamsdown area later on the day Aamir died.

    According to the force, the car was stolen from the Newport area about 12 months previously and are appealing for information on its recent whereabouts, who has been driving it and where it has been kept.

    They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the car on the day in question, particularly around lunchtime.

    CCTV footage

    The attack on Aamir took place at his family home in Ninian Road, Roath at about 1340 BST.

    Officers are also asking anyone in the Roath and Cathays area who has private or business CCTV to contact the incident room at Cardiff Central Police Station on 02920 571530.

    A spokeswoman said the 60-strong investigation team had already viewed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage as part of the inquiry.
