    Giants skipper Hodgson to leave

Huddersfield captain Brett Hodgson will leave the club at the end of the season after turning down a new 12-month deal. The 32-year-old, who is Super League's reigning Man of Steel, is expected to join Warrington.

"His form's outstanding so we offered an extension for a year," said Giants managing director Richard Thewlis.

"He wanted the security of two years which we were not prepared to do at this stage so we gave his manager permission to explore the market."

The former Wests Tigers captain has scored 260 points in 29 appearances for the Giants, inspiring them to last year's Challenge Cup final and becoming only the fourth Australian to win the Man of Steel award.

"He will leave with our very best wishes and thanks for his time here and will always be welcomed back in the future," said Thewlis.

"I think it's best that we get this situation out into the open immediately so our supporters know what's going on as these things usually leak out anyway and we have to look at our recruitment plans again for 2011 without Brett in the side."

Hodgson is expected to replace winger Chris Hicks on Warrington's overseas quota next season and his arrival would also raise doubts over the future of current first-choice full-back Richard Mathers. This article is from the BBC News website. ?
