Israeli troops have killed a senior Hamas militant in a raid on a house in the West Bank.Ali Sweiti, 41, was killed during a gun battle in the village of Beit Awa, the army said.
Troops from the Israeli Defence force, Border Guard and security service Shin Bet surrounded the house and militants opened fire on them, a spokesman said.
Mr Sweiti was wanted for his role in a 2004 gun attack on a border patrol in which a soldier was killed.
