A mother and her ex-boyfriend have gone on trial accused of the manslaughter of a baby girl.Eight-month-old Chelsea Agnew died in a house fire in Enniskillen in August 2007.
Charmaine Agnew, 26, Drumbaun, Enniskillen, and William McLaughlin, 25, from Florence Square, Belfast, deny manslaughter through gross negligence
The jury at Dungannon Crown Court was told they would hear evidence that the fire was started by Chelsea's brother.
He was two-and-a-half, and it was claimed he had a fascination with cigarette lighters.
The fire began next to the baby's travel cot in an upstairs bedroom shared by the family.
Chelsea inhaled smoke and died from burns.
The prosecution claim that the accused knew Chelsea's brother had lit cigarette lighters before.
They also allege that the two smoke alarms in the house were not working and that one had been disarmed by one of the defendants. This article is from the BBC News website. ? British Broadcasting Corporation, The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites.
