Neil Robertson showed no mercy to Crucible hero Steve Davis as he surged into a 7-1 lead in the first session of their World Championship quarter-final.The Australian was much sharper than the six-time world champion as he rattled off the opening four frames.
Davis, 52, stemmed the tide after the mid-session break by holding his nerve to win the fifth but it was only a blip as Robertson stayed well in control.
Breaks of 89 and 53 left Davis staring at defeat when they resume at 1900 BST.
'The Nugget' came into the match on a high after his second-round win over defending champion John Higgins, but was powerless to stop Robertson taking command from the outset.
