
Part of New York City's Times Square has been sealed off while police investigate a suspicious vehicle.A bomb squad was sent to check the contents of the vehicle on 45th Street, the New York Police Department said.
The police were called after a report a car was on fire and streets between Seventh Avenue and Eighth were closed as a precaution.
Police have refused to confirm a report by Reuters news agency that explosives had been found in a car.
The popular tourist area in the centre of Manhattan has been cleared of pedestrians while officers investigate.
