The body of a woman has been found at the scene of a fire at a terraced house in Nottinghamshire.
The fire broke out in a property on Kings Road in Newark at about 1530 GMT on Friday and several nearby properties were evacuated.
A brigade spokesperson said the dead woman, found inside the house, was in her sixties.
Police have appealed for witnesses and an investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.
A police spokesman said: "A number of nearby roads were closed and several properties were evacuated while firefighters put out the blaze.
"Fire officers and police are investigating the blaze in an effort to establish a cause."
