    Two injured in plant 'explosion'

    11 January 2011 Last updated at 11:10 ET Two people have been seriously injured after reports of an explosion at a Rotherham recycling plant, South Yorkshire police have said.

    The incident at the Sterecycle plant on the town's Sheffield Road happened at about 1440 GMT.

    A police spokesman said: "Initial reports suggest a pressure vessel has exploded and two people have been injured."

    Both people have been taken to hospital, one by air ambulance.

    The police spokesman added that the two people were "badly injured".

    Emergency services, including four fire crews, two ambulances and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance were at the scene.

    A spokeswoman for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said one person had been airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary.

    The other person has been taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
