Two men arrested in Galway after police found guns and explosives have been charged at a court in Dublin.
In court were Thomas Hughes, 40, of Dublin Road, Tuam and Thomas Coffey, 47, of Monivea, Athenry.
They were charged with unlawful possession of an explosive substance, unlawful possession of a revolver and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Both men were remanded in custody until Friday when bail applications are expected to be made.
The weapons were found during an operation targeting dissident republicans on Wednesday.
The court heard that after their arrest on Saturday, both men had replied "no comment'' when the charges were put to them.
A woman arrested at the same time as the two men was earlier released without charge.
