Football World Cup 2014 in Brazil June 12-July 13

Soccer fans around the world are in excitement as this is world cup year. The 20th FIFA World Cup will be held in Brazil from June 12 to Juny 13. World cup 2014 will be inaugurated on June 12th with Brazil (host nation) vs Croatia at 1700 hrs local time(2100 hrs GMT or 0130 hrs Indian time) in the Arena de Sao Paulo Stadium, Sao Paulo, Brazil. There will be total of 64 matches including the final on Juny13 in Maracanã Stadium(Estádio Jornalista Mário Filho)

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. There will be 32 teams as usual in A-H groups each holds 4 teams which meet each other in group satges and then knock out starts with 16 teams ( only 2 teams will be qualified from each group based on points earned) and then quarter final, semi-final and final. Loosers final will be between those team loose in the semis. The teams and fixures can be seen in below images.

This is the first time since 1978 a south american country hosts FIFA world cup and in all of those 4 world cups hosted in that continent , champions were from there- in 1930(Uruguay) Uruguay, in 1950(Brazil) Uruguay, in 1962(Chile) Brazil, in 1978(Argentina) Argentina. Its after a long time (since 1950) world cup comes back to Brazil.
