Gunners FC and Ashoka FC registered wins after defeating their respective opponents in the Peninsula Land Pune District football league organised by the Pune District Football Association at the Range Hills football ground on Tuesday.
In the first match of the day, Gunners FC 'B' defeated Shivajians 'B' 2-1. Gunners had a bright start to the game and were holding the ball well. They had the better of the exchanges in the opening few minutes. They were rewarded for their pressure in the 5th minute when they scored through Uday Kang.
Kang, who was looking good from the beginning of the match, received a defence splitting pass from midfielder Nilesh Kadam and he had no trouble in putting the ball into the net. Again in the thirteenth minute the Shivajians defence broke down and Gunners doubled their lead through Harshal Patil. Their opponent Shivajians failed to get any momentum in the first half. They put up a better show in the second half and got a consolation in the 30 th minute through Romit Shanbhor. The referee blew his final whistle soon after and the match ended 2-1.
In the second match of the day, Sunny Day FC 'B' and Samford FC 'B' drew 2-2. Sunny Days started the game on an aggressive note. Sagar Kale opened scoring for his team in the 10 th minute of the match. They scored their second goal in 35 th minute through Rahul Pawar. Samford bounced back to the game in 24 th a minute when Vickey Naidu opened scoring for his team. In the 38 th minute Samford levelled the scoreline, which read 2-2.
In the third match of the day Ashoka FC defeated Naaz United 1-0. Sunil Pawar goal was the only goal scored by the winning team.
