With five defeats on the trot, Deccan Chargers looked down and out in the initial days of IPL 3 were unfolding themselves. That's before the defending champions faced off against an in-form Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Tirumalasetti Suman stepped up: smashing a match-winning unbeaten 78, he put an end to his team's losses.
"I have had a decent IPL. I have been given ample opportunities to show my talent. Despite the heat and hectic schedules, I am enjoying every bit of it. Like IPL 2 in South Africa, IPL 3 has been very satisfying for me as a batsman," said the 26-year-old, who is among the top three top scorers for Deccan Chargers this season with 255 runs in 11 games.
His success in the middle-order can also be attributed to captain Adam Gilchrist and Andrew Symonds' influence. "Both are phenomenal cricketers. They are always trying to do new things, making the opposition think and let you play your natural game. Batting with them, I like to go for the shots and keep the bowlers guessing. Such players' presence during the last IPL infused tremendous confidence in domestic players like me," said Suman.
"Gilchrist is an institution in himself. There is so much to learn from him. His presence in the dressing room lifts the team morale. He tries to pep every one before the game and during net sessions. He was the catalyst for our triumph last year. Then there is Darren Lehmann, who is the smartest coach I have seen. As Gilly says, each game for us now is the final. We just want to win every game,"
