    Dipika clinches maiden WISPA title

    Sun, Apr 18 04:10 PM

Kolkata, April 17 -- Playing in the senior squash circuit for the last three years and not winning a title was getting frustrating for Dipika Pallikal. It's understandable as the 18-year-old had made the world take notice of her when she won the British Open U-17 title two years back and finished runners-up in its U-19 section last year.

Dipika was third in the World Junior Open last year. Finally on Saturday after defeating world No.

34 Emma Beddoes of England in four games to win her first WISPA title, the Indian Challenger, is a boost for Dipika for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. The Chennai girl has been playing her best squash of late and the WISPA acknowledges it.

Her name features second on its list of rising stars for January this year after Nour El Tayeb of Egypt. "My training in England and Egypt has helped quite a bit and for that a lot of credit goes to my sponsors Punj Lloyd and Mittal Champions Trust.

Their funds help me shuffle between Chennai, England and Egypt," Dipika told HT..
