New Delhi, April 20 -- After losing out on a semifinal place for the first time in the IPL, the Delhi Daredevils skipper Gautam Gambhir blamed the top order batsmen, especially the openers, for the failure. "The entire team has to take the responsibility.
But, yes, the openers didn't perform. The starts weren't convincing.
They (top order) didn't do well," said Gambhir. Delhi were one of the favourites to make the semifinals.
They needed to win two out of their last five matches to make the grade. But they couldn't.
"A team that loses four out of five matches doesn't deserve to be in the semifinals. We were never convincing during the chases," added Gambhir.
Meanwhile, Adam Gilchrist is bracing up for a semifinal clash with the Chennai Super Kings at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Navi Mumbai has been one of their homes apart from Cuttack and Nagpur and will host the semifinals.
