Poulter, the second-highest ranked player in the field after world number three Steve Stricker, will be replaced by Australian Mark Hensby, organisers said.

Englishman Poulter, who won his maiden PGA Tour title at the elite WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in February, had been scheduled to compete in New Orleans for the fourth time.

The tournament, being held at the TPC Louisiana in Avondale, Louisiana, starts on Thursday. (Writing by Mark Lamport-Stokes in Los Angeles; Editing by Ed Osmond; To query or comment on this story email sportsfeedback@thomsonreuters.com)
