    Chandigarh to play Gujarat in opening match CHANDIGARH: Hoping to start on a winning note, Chandigarh will begin their campaign against Gujarat in Cluster III on June 5 in the 47 th Junior National Football Championship for Dr BC Roy Trophy to be played in Kolkata. Chandigarh will then face Kerala on June 7 and Mizoram on June 9. The 30-probables have been attending a coaching camp since April 19 under the supervision of Tejinder Kumar, senior coach of the Chandigarh Sports Department, and Gurpreet Bedi. Currently the players train at Sector 42 Football ground in the morning and then Sector 17 stadium in the evening. Coaches and officials of the Chandigarh Football Association sounded confident of a good show from the players. With the inclusion of 14 players of the state-run Chandigarh Football Academy among the probables, Chandigarh have good chances of qualifying for quarter-final league. "Clearing the cluster is the priority and the coaches are planning accordingly," said Rakesh Bakshi, secretary, Chandigarh Football Association. The players would be shortlisted to 20 during the camp. Those invited to attend the camp are: Ruat Fela, Abraham, Laltha Zuala, Sandeep, Amandeep, Akashdeep, Ramanjot, Rajinder, Samuel, Sehnaj Singh, Chinkash, Summit Passi, Sarabjit Singh, Gagandeep (all Chandigarh Football Academy), Harpreet Bedi (DAV-15), Sandesh Jhingan (Shishu Niketan), Sachin (NPS-18), Vikram Chauhan (DAV-15), Manpreet Singh (NPS-18), Anmol (Shivalik Public School-41), Shamindra (DAVSSS-8), NC THoinensana (DAV-18), Rochan Kakkhar (Vivek-37), Amit (DAVSS-8), Sonu Majhi (DAVSSS-8), Shubham (Shishu Niketan), Arsh Sadana (St John's-26), Ameen (St John's-26), Anoop (KV) and Parminder Singh (NPS).

    Resham bowls Rihalz Warriors to winPANCHKULA: Giving away just six runs while taking four wickets, Resham was the defining force in Rihalz Warriors' mammoth 137 run win over Gwalior in the 1st All India Dr DD Sharma Memorial Cricket Tournament played at Tau Devi Lal stadium on Friday. Batting first, Rihalz Warriors posted 180 for 8 in 30 overs. Shubhman top scored with 33 runs. Vikhas took three wickets. In reply, Gwalior were bundled out for 53 in 12 overs. Khushpreet bagged four wickets for 21 runs.
