    Pujara hits ton, India 'A' win big

    In-form skipper Cheteshwar Pujara struck a fluent hundred before Dhawal Kulkarni wreaked havoc with a five-wicket burst as India 'A' thumped Scotland 'A' by 152 runs in their second List 'A' match. India had 50 runs on the board when Pujara walked in and along with Mukund, put on 83 runs. In reply, Scotland were off to a disastrous start, losing four wickets with just 62 runs on theboard. Richie Berrington (24) and Moneeb Iqbal (33) tried to rebuild the innings but once they departed the Scottish innings collapsed. Apart from Kulkarni's five for 29 in nine overs, Iqbal Abdulla scalped three for 21 runs.

    Yousuf returns to cricket

    Former Pakistan captain Muhammad Yousuf will this week return to the cricket field for the first time since announcing his international retirement in March. Yousuf is set to appear in a local club tournament called the Lahore Premier League.The senior batsman, said he was looking forward to the tournament. "I am still passionate about cricket and I am looking forward to playing this tournament. But right now I am not thinking about playing international cricket," Yousuf said.

    WI lose early wickets

    Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Narsingh Deonarine shared an unbroken stand of 55 to revive West Indies against South Africa after an early wobble on the opening day Saturday of the third cricket Test at Bridgetown. The hosts, after winning the toss and batting, went to lunch on 76-2 at Kensington Oval. Chanderpaul was 22 not out while fellow Guyanese Narsingh Deonarine was on 28.

    Pawar takes over on July 1

    Former BCCI chief Sharad Pawar will take over as International Cricket Council President on July 1, becoming the second Indian, after Jagmohan Dalmiya, to occupy the top post. The ICC annual conference week will culminate with Pawar taking over as the seventh ICC President, succeeding David Morgan.

    Atwal makes cut

    Arjun Atwal lifted his game just in time and brought home an improved three-under 67 card to make the cut in the $6m Travelers Championship golf tournament. Atwal's poor opening round of one-over 71 at the TPC River Highlands threatened his prospect of weekend action but the US-based Indian came up with a vastly improved show to finish among the top 60 plus tied.

    Randhawa tied 17

    Jyoti Randhawa zoomed to tied 17th after a scintillating second round of six-under 66 as three Indians made the cut in the BMW International Open golf tournament. Randhawa dropped just one shot on the par-four seventh hole. He reeled off five of his seven birdies on the back nine. Shiv Kapur and Jeev M Singh also advanced to the weekend rounds.

    Indian eves settle for draw

    The Indian women's hockey team pumped in three goals in the second half to hold world number four and hosts Germany to a 3-3 draw in the four-nation tournament in Essen. The hosts took the lead from a penalty corner conversion by Tina Bachmann in the 12th minute and veteran Natascha Keller made it 2-0 in the 24th minute. Ralte reduced the margin in the 38th minute, Rani converted the only penalty corner in the 63rd minute while Skipper Surinder Kaur successfully found the equaliser in the dying minutes.
