Port Elizabeth (South Africa), July 11 (DPA) German midfielder Thomas Mueller was named Man of the Match Saturday as Germany defeated Uruguay 3-2 to clinch third place in the 2010 World Cup.
Mueller opened the scoring in the 19th minute when he coolly tapped in the ball from eight metres after Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera parried a shot from captain Bastian Schweinsteiger.
It was Mueller's fifth goal for the tournament and put him on par with Uruguay's Diego Forlan and Spain's David Villa and Dutchman Wesley Sneijder, who both have a chance to add to their score in Sunday's final.
