After putting up an excellent performance at the 36th Maharashtra State Under-15 Open Chess Selection Tournament at the Ganesh Sabagruha in Kothrud on Saturday, Roshan Rangarajan and Nikhil Dixit of Pune have made their way into the Maharashtra Chess team.
The duo are among the top seven players in the state who will progress to the national-level tournament.
Rangarajan finished with 7.5 points to stand second overall behind Mumbai's Saumil Padhya, while Dixit finished sixth with 7 points.
The city girls also made their presence felt, with Rujuta Desai, Diksha Chalak and Saloni Sapale making it into the top nine. Desai finished fourth overall, while Chalak and Sapale finished fourth and eighth respectively.
A few city players who narrowly missed out on a spot in the state team were Abhimanyu Puranik, Mohit Shenvi, Aakanksha Hagawane, Isha Bhave and Gayatri Limaye
