    All India Railway T-T championship from today

    The All India Railway Table Tennis Championship-2010 will be organised by RDSO Sports Association from July 13 to July 17. This is the second time that RDSO has been allotted the All India Railway Table Tennis Championships.

    The Championship will be played in two phases. In the first phase team championship will start from July 13 to 15. In the second phase, Open Championship will be played from July 16 and the finals will be played on July 17.

    VK Agrawal, Director/Wagon informs that during the championship reputed paddlers like Anirban Nandi, Amal Balgu, Sayan Paul, Arpit Bhopalkar will be taking part in the men's section. In the women's section, Prajkata Tipale, Mansi Bhagat, Pallavi Kundu and Meenu Basak will be seen in action.

    There will be prize money in open championship.

    Best player of the tournament from both men and women section will also be selected by the tournament committee and awarded. Vipin Mehra of Northern Railway will be the chief Referee for the championship.

    The event will be organised under the chairmanship of Amitabh Sinha, ED/Wagon.

    The Championship will be inaugurated by KBL Mittal, Director General/ RDSO on July 13 at 9.30 am.

    The participating teams:-(Men's section): Central Railway, Mumbai; Eastern Railway, Kolkata; East Coast Railway, Bhubaneswar; Northern Railway, Delhi; North Central Railway, Allahabad; NF Railway, Guwahati; North Western Railway, Jaipur; Southern Railway, Chennai; South Central Railway, Secunderabad; South Eastern Railway, Kolkata; South East Central Railway, Bilaspur; South Western Railway, Hubli; Western Railway, Mumbai; Integral Coach Factory, Chennai; RDSO, Lucknow; Railway Board, New Delhi.

    (Women's section): South Eastern Railway; Eastern Railway; Central Railway; Western Railway; Metro Railway; NF Railway.

    The RDSO team:RK Bhagchandani (captain), Brijesh Gupta, Shailesh Singh, Satish Chandra, Vinod Kashyap.

    Gufran shinesA five wicket haul by Gufran Ali helped Armaan Cricket Academy in defeating Multi Activity Centre team by five wickets in their league match of the DMR Cricket Tournament, in Lucknow on Monday. In another league match of the same tourney, National Youngster Cricket Club beat Eram Club by 32 runs.

    Football leagueThe league match between Dragon team and Neelmatha of the Vodafone District Football League-2010 ended in a goalless draw.

    Safipur TrophyLuckow University beat DCA Pratapgarh by 30 runs in the final of the 5th Safipur State Cricket Trophy at Lucknow University grounds on Monday. Batting first, Lucknow University scored 184 runs losing all its wickets in the given 30 overs. In reply, DCA Pratapgarh was bowled out at a total of 154 runs in 27.4 overs.

    The prize distribution function was held later in the day.

    Gurdeep Kushwaha (Pratapgarh), Sandeep Yadav (LU) and Akash Bhatt (Pratapgarh) were adjudged 'Best Batsman', 'Best Bowler' and 'Best Allrounder', respectively. Avneesh Pathak was declared man-of-the-match in the final match.
