Panaji, Jul 16 (PTI) The Goa Football Association in its 50th year of existence is all set to launch an ambitious grassroot programme with a budget of around Rs 20 lakh per year for three years. The entire funding would be done by the Australian government through agencies like the Australian Sports Outreach Programme (ASOP) and Football Federation Australia (FFA).
The agreement to the effect was signed today. Addressing a press conference, Savio Messias, Secretary of GFA said, "Earlier we had conducted youth development programme for Under-14 and above with a small budget which we found taxing and could not carry forward but with Australian Government supporting in a big way we are going to have a superb programme for boys and girls Under 8-12 years.
" The programme will start from next month. Around 800 to 1000 boys and girls will be selected from different parts of Goa and will be given training twice a week, he said.
