The Pune paddlers progressed to the fourth round of the ongoing 4th State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament being held at Nagpur, with straightforward wins over their respective opponents on Friday.
In the Cadet Boys Singles, fourth seed Raj Shinde overcame Akola's Chirag Jain in straight sets, as did eighth seed Dhruv Kaluskar against his unseeded opponent, Kaustubh Udar of Nagpur.
Anand Kale and Manthan Shah, the 10th and 14th seeds respectively, needed four sets each to subdue their opponents. Kale was surprised when his opponent, Thane's Atharva Teli, took the first set. However, he managed to recover and win the next three sets to progress to the next round.
Kale and Kaluskar also progressed in the Sub-Junior Boys age group, winning their matches easily. The top seed in that draw, Pune's Adwait Brahme, entered the next round by thrashing his opponent Shridharan Iyer.
Sanat Bokil and Ritesh Vora, the city's two unseeded players, also won their respective matches to enter the next round.
In the Cadet Girls Section also, city player Vaibhavi Kher managed an easy straight-sets win over Nagpur's Bhargavi Baradkar to enter the third round. Fifth seed Manasi Chajed pummeled another Nagpur player Toshvi Bobade, while her sister Aarohi was made to fight a little harder against Gargi Wharadpande, who she still managed to beat without dropping a set.
The Sub-Junior Girls section also saw the Pune seeds do well, with Manasi Chajed and Chaitrali Bokil progressing thanks to easy victories over their opponents.
