Chandigarh, July 28 (PTI) Queen''s Baton Relay for 2010 Commonwealth Games will reach Hisar on September 26, Haryana Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Gopal Kanda said today. Kanda said he himself would hand it over to the Delhi government on September 29.
The Minister said that sportspersons of the state were fully prepared to participate in the CWG to be held in New Delhi in October and hoped they would bag a maximum number of medals in these Games. He said the appointment of Olympian Vijender Singh and ace shuttler Saina Nehwal as Brand Ambassador for Commonwealth Games would boost the morale of sportspersons in the State, an official release quoted him as saying.
Kanda, who also holds the portfolio of Home, said that adequate arrangements have been made for security during the Games. He said that the equipment required for security arrangements have been received by the State Police from the Central Government and the Police officers and Police personnel were being trained to use this equipment.
As many as 8,000 rooms had been provided by the State Tourism Department for stay of guests. He said that the sportspersons of Haryana, who would participate in the Commonwealth Games, have been imparted training at training camps.
