Top seed Rohan Vora of Pune and second seed Pranay Merchant of Mumbai started their campaign on a winning note in the Boys under-19 draw at the Kirloskar Oil Engines- Garware Wall Ropes Pune Open Squash Championships, being played at the Residency Club squash courts yesterday.
In the Boys Under-19 first round Rohan Vora outplayed Uzi Gill of Mumbai 11-6, 11-4, 11-8, while Pranay Merchant easily accounted for Amir P. 11-3, 11-2, 11-3 to enter the second round.
In the Men's Open second round top seed Sandeep Jhangra of Mumbai registered a one sided victory over Amod Sanjay 11-3, 11-3, 11-3 to move into the pre-quarterfinal round, while local lads Nitin Manin & Chirag Khemani took care of the challenge from fellow Puneites Gurukaran Gill & Vicky Gagat of Pune by a 3-0 margin to enter the next round.
