Liverpool chiefs assure fans they won't let club fall into wrong hands

    Sat, Aug 14 03:45 PM

London, Aug 14 (ANI): Liverpool chiefs, who met in London on Friday to examine several takeover bids, have assured fans that they won't let the club fall into wrong hands again.

India's richest man Mukesh Ambani faces competition from the Chinese Government in the battle to buy Liverpool.

There are still huge doubts from within the camp regarding the Kenny Huang-fronted Chinese consortium and Syrian businessman Yahya Kirdi's group, the front-runners to replace Tom Hicks and George Gillett, The Sun reports.

In a statement, Liverpool insisted they will not be making any rash decisions concerning the club's future.

"The Liverpool FC Board has reviewed a number of proposed bids for the club today," the statement said.

"The Board will continue to act in the best interests of Liverpool FC and its fans, doing all it can to ensure the club is sold to a buyer who has the resources and real commitment to give it a long-term, stable and secure funding position.

"The sale process is continuing but its timing and outcome remain uncertain. In the meantime, we will not comment on rumour and speculation," it added.

Kirdi is the preferred bidder for the Americans as he is willing to pay closer to their 600 million pounds asking price. (ANI)
