London, August 20 (ANI): The Beckhams have apparently cut back their staff by a third after a money expert warned: "You're pouring money down the drain."
Victoria called in the accountant to overhaul their finances because she feared the high-spending lifestyle was inappropriate at a time when ordinary people are tightening their belts.
She was told they wasted hundreds of thousands a year on surplus staff at their homes in England, LA, Dubai and France.
"This very no-nonsense accountant gave it to Vic straight and said, 'You CAN afford to employ all of these people. But why the hell DO you?" the Sun quoted a friend as saying.
Sizeable cuts were proposed at the Beckingham Palace home in Sawbridgeworth, Herts - with the couple being told they did not need so many staff there while in LA.
David, 35, and Victoria, who were employing about 50 staff worldwide, were initially reluctant to sack the 14 who were chopped.
"Once the accountant pointed out that level of staffing was not required Vic pushed the button," the friend said.
"There has been a large downsize. David and Victoria are multi-millionaires but that doesn't mean they have to waste money - and they were haemorrhaging it," the friend added. (ANI)
