    Saupin's School record easy winSaupin's School, Sector 32, Chandigarh, continued its winning spree by registering a five-wicket win over Ryan International School, Sector 49, in the Inter-School Saupin's Gold Cup under-14 Cricket Tournament organised bySaupin's School, Sector 32, Chandigarh, at the Banyan Tree School, Sector 48. Batting first, Ryan International School were bundled out for 83 runs in 17 overs. In reply, Saupin's School achieved the target in 17.5 overs for the loss of five wickets.

    30-member Chandigarh team selected30 talented cricketers from Chandigarh were selected out of the 400 gathered during the trials held by Punjab Premier League at the Tau Devi Lal stadium in Sector 3. There were five selectors during the occassion to select the 30 members for Chandigarh teams. After the rials, players were divided into two groups- senior and junior. The selection was made on the basis of the age and experience of the players. The next trials will be held in Jalandhar for Jalandhar Spartans at FC Sondhi cricket ground on September 4.

    Ak****, Jyoti claim top honoursPlaying to their reputation, Ak**** Mahajan and Jyoti of Panchkula, beat their respective opponents to claim the men's and women's singles title during the 5th Ashwani Memorial District Badminton Championship held in Panchkula on Tuesday. Ak**** outplayed Deepak Khatri 21-14, 16-21, 21-18 in keenly contested match, while Jyoti overpowered Jagriti 21-16, 21-12 with ease. Another Panchkula girl also hogged limelight by winning girls U-16 singles as well as U-16 doubles titles. In the Master Doubles event, the pair of Vivek and Munish pipped Jatinder Mahajan and Jatinder Mehta by 21-18, 16-21, 21-15.

    Himal, Arunima emerge championsHimal Gusain of SD-32 emerged winner in the boys' category, while Arunima Goyal of Sacred Heart-26 was the winner in the girls category during the under-19 chess championship which concluded at St. Xaviers School, Sector 44, on Tuesday.
