    Sports summit for engineering students from Sept 29-Oct 3

    The city-based Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) will hold a national-level sports summit from September 29 to October 3. According to organisers, as many as 66 teams from across the country will participate in the summit.

    The event is organised for the students of engineering colleges across the country. As many as 14 more events such as cricket, volleyball, swimming and boating will be included this year. The event is one-of-its-kind platform for engineering students to showcase their talents in the field of sports.

    Dilip Vengsarkar will be the chief guest at the inaugural event. Navnath Phadtare, world junior shooting champion and Narendra Sopal, director, Sports and Youth Affairs, Maharashtra, will be the guests of honour.

    As many as 38 teams from the University of Pune (UoP), 14 teams from city colleges and four teams from outside Maharashtra will participate in the event. Cash prizes of around Rs 6 lakhs will be given away to winners.
