New Delhi, Oct 4 (PTI) England''s double Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington today hit out at the organisers for the "crazy" scheduling of swimming events at the Commonwealth Games here after managing to win only a bronze medal in the women''s 200m freestyle. Australia''s Kylie Jayne Palmer won the gold medal with a timing of (01:57.50), while Jazmin Roxy Carlin bagged the silver after she clocked (01:58.29).
"It was all crazy. It''s nothing like I''ve ever done before.
We had to get up before 4am to leave the Village in time," Adlington said at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Aquatics Complex. On her performance Adlington said, "When I finished I looked up and saw that I finished third.
If I didn''t I would have been embarrassed," Adlington, who is looking to win four medals here, said. "I''m happy to have made the final.
I''ll take it," said a confident Adlington who made it to the final after finishing sixth in qualifiers. The 21-year-old English swimmer is yet to recapture the magic that saw her win gold in the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and break the 800m freestyle world record.
She won gold in 400m freestyle at the European Championships in August but could only manage a seventh-place finish in 800m.
