Karachi, Oct 20 (PTI) Pakistan Cricket Board has woken up from a slumber to stop suspended trio of Test captain Salman Butt, Muhammad Aamir and Muhammad Asif from training at the National Cricket Academy or using any of their facilities. Sources in the Board said that the International Cricket Council had reminded the PCB of their responsibilities under the anti-corruption code after Salman Butt spoke to the media following a training session at the NCA last week.
"The media talk that Butt had also alerted the ICC, who then reminded the PCB that the suspended trio could not be linked to any facility or event of the PCB because of their suspensions," the source said. But Tafazzul Rizvi, PCB''s legal advisor, told PTI that the Board had taken the decision to stop the suspended players from training at the NCA or using any of its facilities by itself.
"It is mandatory upon us to ensure that until these players are banned they can''t be associated with any of our events or use our facilities. They can''t even interact or train with the other players," Rizvi said.
"Butt was using the facilities so he has been told to stop doing this. Until the suspension remain we cannot facilitate these players in any way.
"That is why we have even refused to help them in obtaining visas for their appeal hearings in Doha this month. The players are also paying themselves the legal expenses on fighting their cases," he added.
There were also reports that Butt and Aamir had interacted with the Pakistani players, who are attending a conditioning camp in Lahore. The three were suspended by the ICC in early September after British tabloid ''News of the World'' broke a story that the three had taken bribes to do spot fixing in the fourth Test against England at the Lord''s in late August.
The three have appealed against their suspensions and the ICC independent tribunal will hold a hearing in Doha on October 30 and 31.
