Kolkata, Oct 21 (PTI) After spanking George Telegraph 7-0 in their earlier match, holders Mohun Bagan today put up another fine show to defeat Railway FC 3-0 in the Sahara Kolkata premier division football league. After Muritala Ali opened the account for Bagan in 23rd minute, striker Chiddi struck twice in the second half -- in the 60th and 82nd minute -- to complete the tally at their home ground.
Chiddi, who had scored a hattrick along with Muritala against George Telegraph, was unlucky to miss another one as his shot off Sohrabuddin, hit the right post a minute before the long whistle. The city giants could have won with a bigger margin but for failing to convert the chances time and again.
Bagan strikers also fell victim to offside trap on a number of occasions. With medio Snehashish Chakrabarty, later adjudged the ''man of the match'', scheming most of their attacks, the green and maroon brigade dominated the proceedings all through.
Railway defender Subhrnil Dutta was sent off at the 84th minute due to a double booking but Bagan attackers failed to capitalise on that in the remaining minutes. Though the railwaymen tried to make some sporadic raids on the Bagan citadel, the attacks lacked sting and failed to cause any damage to their superior opponents.
With this victory, Bagan collected 13 points from six matches while Railway FC remained at 11 points in as many outings.
