Black money: Hasan Ali sent to ED custody for three days

MUMBAI: A Mumbai sessions court on Saturday granted a three-day custody of Pune-based stud farm owner Hasan Ali, who is alleged to have stashed away over eight billion dollars in Swiss banks, to the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

According to reports, Enforcement Directorate sleuths may question Ali over his links with Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh, who was earlier questioned by the probe agency.

A four-member team of ED officials from Mumbai questioned Iqbal Singh at the Raj Niwas in Puducherry for more than 10 hours on April 26.

The court had earlier on April 26 extended Hasan Ali's judicial custody till May 7.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Ali, who also has been accused of forging documents to acquire multiple passports, in Mumbai on the night of March 7 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The Income Tax Tribunal had on March 4 issued a showcause notice to Hasan Ali.
