Australian Jones wins 10th title in Japan

Australia's Brendan Jones defeated South Korean I.J. Jang in a playoff Sunday to win The Crowns for his 10th Japan Tour title.

Jones fired an even-par 70 in the final round and then made a six-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole — the par-4 18th.

Jang shot a 68 to finish tied for the lead at 9-under 271 but could only save par in the playoff.

Japan's Ryo Ishikawa, who shot a record-setting 12-under 58 to win the tournament last year, finished tied for 12th after a 70.

Jones, who started the final round with a two-stroke lead over Jang and fellow South Korean Kim Sung-yoon, earned $295,000 for his first win on the Japan Tour since the Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open in September 2010.

"I was thinking about that over the putt," Jones said of his 10th victory. "I knew that it was for my 10th win, and I'm just so happy that it went in."

Ishikawa was never in contention after a double bogey on the par-4 12th. He finished with four birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey.
