Melbourne, May 29 (ANI): The Australian Cricketers' Association says Twenty20 cricket has enough gimmicks already without allowing fans to catch balls in the stands and keep them.
ACA chief Paul Marsh is said to have faith in the current T20 format being fan-friendly without continually giving away the match ball during play.
Cricket Australia (CA) is proposing several modifications to boost the Big Bash League (BBL).
The game's governing body has launched an online survey, asking fans what they would like to see featured in the new competition.
The major change proposed is a so-called "super over" where a batting team can nominate one over in which every run scored will be double.
Fans keeping balls hit into the crowd and two bouncers per over are among other proposed rule changes, as well as more restrictive fielding conditions for the bowling side and a free-hit delivery to follow a wide.
The ACA met through the week with CA as part of talks regarding the Memorandum of Understanding for the new BBL, with both parties hopeful of reaching an agreement soon.
The players' body is confident it will be consulted on any rule changes for this summer before they're introduced. (ANI)
