Mumbai, Jun 1 (PTI) The youngsters from Jammu & Kashmir gave a scintillating display by trouncing Tripura 12-3 to log home full points in their opening group league encounter at the Junior National Hockey Championship (U-17) being held at the MHA Mahindra Stadium in Mumbai.
The Jammu attack lead by tall and wiry Sahil Kumar impressed right from the start and notched four goals in 20 minutes before facing some resistance from Tripura, who had reduced the margin by two goals at the break.
In the other matches played today, debutants Dadra & Nagar Haveli gave hockey lessons to Pune DHA beating them 7-2, while Tamil Nadu had to fight tooth and nail to beat Bihar 7-5 in a well-contested tussle in Pool F.
Jammu & Kashmir coach Angat Singh while describing the plight of hockey in his state said that there were hardly any tournaments nor the team had the opportunity to play outside as no age-group tournaments are held in the country regularly.
He blamed Hockey India secretary Narendra Batra, who also heads the state body, for the situation.

Dadra & Nagar Haveli HA 7 (Prasad Magare, Pruthvi P Prashant 2, Swapnil H Shinde 3, Santosh Reddy) beat Pune DHA 2 (Anand Gaikwad 2).
Jammu & Kashmir 12 (Sahil Kumar 3, Karan 2, Navjot Singh 2, Moksh 2 ,Mohit Lalotra, Gurpreet Singh, Jasdeep Singh) beat Tripura 3 (Laxman Nama 2, Rahul Das).
