KINGSTON (Reuters) - Former 100 meters world record holder Asafa Powell has returned home to Jamaica and should be ready for the country's world championships trials after a weekend scare, his manager said on Tuesday.
Powell pulled up lame after just 20 meters of a 100 meters race in Rabat, Morocco, on Sunday after feeling a cramp in his right lower hamstring.
But his manager Paul Doyle told Reuters it was just a precaution and he planend to run in the Jamaican trials in Kingston from June 23-26.
"He feels no pain or tightness in the leg and should be all set for the trails," Doyle said in an email.
Powell must finish in the top three against a high quality field to make the Jamaican team for the world championships in Daegu, South Korea, starting in August.
Jamaican world record holder Usain Bolt has a bye to the world championships leaving at least six others, including Powell, contendings for the remaining three spots in the team.
