Los Angeles, June 16(ANI): Former American basketball star Shaquille O'Neal's sex tape, which is currently at the center of a kidnapping and assault case, never actually existed, a Los Angeles court has been told.
"It was a bluff. There was no tape. There never was a tape," The New York Daily News quoted a source with knowledge of testimony given in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, as saying.
O' Neal has been accused of threatening music producer Robert Ross over the alleged sex tape.
This week, Ross testified in the court during a preliminary hearing for seven members of the Main Street Crips gang accused of kidnapping him at gunpoint from West Hollywood in February 2008 and beating him while demanding the purported videotape of O'Neal having sex with a woman other than his wife.
The gang members face charges of kidnapping, robbery, assault with a firearm and criminal conspiracy.
Ross had told investigators that after being kidnapped, he was taken to the home of the gang's alleged leader Ladell Rowles.
The sources also said that the police had interviewed O'Neal, but it did not turn up any evidence that he ordered or even knew about Ross' kidnapping.
O'Neal retired this month after 19 seasons, several of them with the Los Angeles Lakers. (ANI)
