Southampton (UK), June 21 (ANI): England cricket captain Andrew
rauss will play in a warm-up match between Somerset and India in
eparation for the Test series that begins at the end of July.
Strauss, who led England to a 1-0 Test series win against Sri Lankafter the third and final Test was drawn at the Rose Bowl here ononday, needs to play the Somerset-India match, as his home countyiddlesex have just one four-day County Championship match, againstloucestershire at Uxbridge in the next three weeks.
According to reports, Strauss will not have much time in the middleefore the Test series gets underway, as he has retired from one-dayricket.
England coach Andy Flower told Sky Sports of the decision to lettrauss play for Somerset.
He was quoted as saying: "We knew it was a challenge about how muchricket he will get before the Test series. We were looking forpportunities for him to play. We approached Somerset and they've beenholly positive." (ANI)
