Sachin, Sourav out of ODI team; Sehwag from Tests

Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to send a young squad to Bangladesh for the three-match ODI series.

Announcing the team in Mumbai on Friday, BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah said some senior players have been ?rested? from the squad for the ODIs. Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh and Ajit Agarkar have been ?rested? from the One-Dayers.

The team for the One-Dayers includes Rahul Dravid (C), Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Manoj Tiwary, S Sreesanth, Munaf Patel, Zaheer Khan, RP Singh, Piyush Chawla, Ramesh Powar and Dinesh Mongia.

While Tendulkar and Ganguly have retained their place in the Test squad, Pathan, Harbhajan and Agarkar have not made the cut here too. Sehwag, too, has been dropped from the Test team.

Even the new manager of the team Ravi Shastri had recently voiced his desire to have a young squad for the Bangladesh tour.

"There is a heck of a lot of cricket that is going to be played by India in the next 12 months so if you want to give the youngsters an chance then do it early. Do it on this tour of Bangladesh and see what comes out of it," Shastri had said in an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN.

The Indian team will leave for Bangladesh on May 7 with the first One-Dayer scheduled on May 10 at Mirpur. The seond ODI will also be pleyed in Mirpur on May 12 with the third at Chittagong on May 15.

Chittagong will host the first Test from May 18-22 with the second and final match at Mirpur from May 25-29.

The cricket calendar of the Indian team is packed with 45 One-Dayers and 15 Tests in the coming 12 months. There is also a Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa in September.

Who do u want , a 70 year old cricketer who can play really well or a 25 year old young lad who is just OK !

See age is not a problem, we are playing CRICKET ! The one who gets most runs is the winner, not the team which has the yougest side !Why dont people understand...Like itz not a problem if the youngsters deliver..Thtz not the case, the selectors get rid of Sachin and get someone like Sehwag in...Come on it is not going to help...See these people, Sachin $ Dada hav a lot of experience and if u compare the ODI average of these men for the last 5 or 10 matches with their team mates then the two will be defenitley in TOP FIVE ! Yeh the selectors should give chance to youngsters but not by eliminating the old fellas who play well, instead they should get rid of young lads who dont play well !
