AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) — Auckland Blues coach Pat Lam says Saturday's Super 15 rugby final between the Queensland Reds and Canterbury Crusaders is too close to call.
Lam's Blues beat the Crusaders in the opening round of this season's tournament, lost to them in a return match in round 17 and lost twice to the Reds this season, including the 30-13 defeat in last weekend's semifinal at Brisbane.
Lam says the Reds' home advantage is a major asset — they have been beaten only once at home this season — but the seven-time champion Crusaders had shown a persistent ability to overcome adversity.
