LONDON (Reuters) - India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bowl on the opening day of the first test against England at Lord's on Thursday.
Persistent morning rain delayed the 1000 GMT scheduled start of play. The match is the 2000th test match and the 100th between the two countries.

England - Andrew Strauss (captain), Alastair Cook, Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Eoin Morgan, Matt Prior, Graeme Swann, Stuart Broad, Chris Tremlett, James Anderson.
