London, July 25 (ANI): Cycling champ Mark Cavendish, who has become the first Briton to clinch the Tour de France's coveted Green Jersey, has revealed that it is Page 3 girl Peta Todd who inspired him.
Cavendish, 26, grabbed the prize for the tour's best sprinter besides becoming the first man ever to win the Champs-Elysees in Paris for three years in a row.
However his most special moment came after the victory when Todd embraced him at the end of the race.
"I've brought the Green Jersey home for Britain. Last year I became the first man to win the Champs-Elysees stage two years in a row, now to do it for a third time is fantastic," the Sun quoted Cavendish as saying.
Cavendish revealed that the secret behind his pedal power is 'Peta Power.'
"All the way down the Champs-Elysees I was thinking, 'I just can't wait for the end - to see Peta'," he said.
"It's not like we're in boarding school on tour - we're all adults - but if something's going to affect my performance, it's going to affect my job and my income so I have to stick to the limits.
"Knowing she's waiting for me at the end helps me climb those mountains during the tour. I just have to get through them to see Peta.
"I can't let her down. But being away from home is tough. I get to ride my bike every day for a living but I only sleep in my own bed 50 or 60 days a year.
"I spend time with Peta when I can but it's not easy if you don't go home and see the one you love at the end of the day. There's only so much you can speak about on the phone without showing your emotions.
"I'm not an easy person to live with and to have someone who can understand that is incredible. I'm incredibly lucky to have met Peta," he added. (ANI)
