Cape Cobras chose to bowl at the Chinnaswamy Stadium as they attempted to limit Mumbai's winning run in the tournament to two games. A defeat today will leave Cobras on the brink of elimination and make Mumbai the first team to reach the semi-finals. Cobras were unchanged from the side that lost to Chennai Super Kings, while Mumbai made one change, replacing T Suman with Sarul Kanwar.
There was a slight drizzle a few minutes before the toss, which brought out the covers, but the rain soon stopped and the match was set to begin on time.
