20 overs Somerset 146 for 4 (Kieswetter 56*, Botha 1-20) v Warriors
Live scorecard and ball-by-ball details
Somerset put on a competitive total on a tricky batting pitch in Bangalore in their must-win match against Warriors. Craig Kieswetter formed the spine of Somerset's innings and got the balance right between patience and attack. Warriors relied on their spinners and variation from their seamers to keep Somerset to a chaseable total.
Lonwabo Tsotsobe started bowling short of a length and he had Peter Trego caught behind off his fifth delivery. The pressure Tsotsobe created in the first over was completely undone by Wayne Parnell in the second. Parnell bowled a poor line, conceded 13 runs did not bowl for the rest of the innings.
Kieswetter took advantage of Parnell's wayward leg-side line but it was Roelof van der Merwe who sunk his teeth into his countrymen. van der Merwe's first boundary was a thick edge over the slips off Tsotsobe and he followed it up with a monstrous six and another four.
Somerset's acceleration prompted Johan Botha to change the pace and he introduced left-arm spinner JJ Smuts, who bowled too short in his first over. Nicky Boje was tidier and got some turn from a moist surface. After van der Merwe caned Smuts for two more fours, he succumbed to his attacking instinct and top-edged the attempted slog sweep to midwicket.
Botha and Boje took control between overs seven and ten, giving away 18 runs and only one boundary as they tied Kieswetter and James Hildreth down. Boje made way for Rusty Theron in the 11th over and he started with a wide ball that was hit through point for four. Theron recovered well, with fuller and slower deliveries that could not be hit to the boundary.
Smuts was better in his second spell and Botha juggled his spinners to good effect. Four shots spoiled his effort: Kieswetter's pull over midwicket off Botha, Jos Buttler's pair of sixes off Boje, the second of which was the second-biggest six of the tournament, and Buttler's straight smack over the sightscreen off Smuts.
Tsotsobe and Theron were left to bowl at the end and had to make use of variations such as cutters and slower balls. Most of their deliveries were on target but Kieswetter punished anything that wasn't. He hit boundaries in three of the last four overs, and was the reason Somerset were able to score 36 runs in the last four overs.
