New PCB chief vows to focus efforts on 'bringing international cricket back to Pakistan'

Lahore, Oct 29 : The Pakistan Cricket Board’s new chief, Chaudhary Zaka Ashraf, has said that he will be focusing his efforts on bringing international cricket back to the country.
Ashraf, who finally took charge as PCB chairman on Friday, brings with him years of experience of management and corporate world.

“I strongly believe that professional systems are crucial to the success of any organization. I intend to ensure that the PCB becomes a vibrant organization and build a sustainable vision for the future of Pakistan Cricket,” he told the media on the occasion.

“I will be focusing my efforts on bringing International Cricket back to Pakistan. I will be working closely with our International partners to ensure that the millions of cricket loving Pakistanis are not denied the ability to watch their stars and the game they love on our country’s soil,” Ashraf said.

“I will also be laying a lot of stress on the improvement of our Domestic structure, as this is integral to the future of Pakistan Cricket. We will look at how the PCB can support the various regions and districts to ensure that future generations of cricketers are given the best possible support to grow as professional sportsmen,” he added.

The new PCB chief said that while the challenges in front of him are formidable, he believes that by maintaining the right ‘line and length’, he will be able to tackle the multiple challenges faced by the PCB.

“The isolation of Pakistan Cricket needs to be addressed. For that I intend to work closely with ICC, ACC and other boards in order to ensure good relationship with them. This would also help in confidence building for their decisions to come and play in Pakistan,” he added.

Earlier, Ashraf was welcomed by the PCB management on his arrival at the board’s headquarters at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

The senior management of PCB then briefed the newly incumbent chairman on the working of the organization.
