Nokia Lumia 800 faces battery woes, software glitch

Nokia's attempt to break into the smartphone sweepstakes received a jolt with the company admitting that some units of its recently-launched flagship model - Lumia 800 - has battery problems.

The Finnish company admitted that Lumia 800 suffers from a software bug which is preventing the battery of Lumia 800 from charging to full capacity. This means users are required to charge their phones more frequently than normal.

According to a Nokia statement, the problem is with the software of the smartphone and not with its battery. The software in some variants is not allowing the phone to access its full battery capacity, said the company.

Nokia has promised to fix the problem with a software update in "early 2012" which will enable the affected phones to access the total battery capacity. The company also plans to include other performance enhancements with the promised update. Nokia has also offered to replace the handset for those who don't want to wait for the software update.
