OnePlus One- a top class high end smartphone from china at very low cost
Great news! If you are not a apple only fan or not adamant that you will buy only costly( current industry standardly priced) smartphones, then there is an option for you (initially if you are in those lucky countries, then hopefully everywhere) to buy a high spec feature packed smartphone at less than half price that stand neck to neck with current top smartphones from apple, samsung, htc, lg or sony etc. Yes you heard it right, Chinese start up company called OnePlus(a totally new company but large shares by well known chinese electronics corporate OPPO) has launched (yet to start shipping) an amazing 5.5" screen smartphone packed with hardware specifications that mathces current top models like Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, Sony Xperia Z2 or LG G2 etc (hardware specifications wise apple's iPhone 5s still wont level with these devices). The price is $299 for a 16GB version and $349 for a 64GB one(
), yep thats right only $50 for addition of another 48GB. There is no way this phone will be yours, via mobile carriers in your countries or buy straight from retail units or online retailers or from the company itself. Instead you have to obtain an invite to buy the phone and then buy phone. The OnePlus company has done a crazy smash your smartphone contest to win 100 phones and owners will get invites which others can use to buy it, also they are doing a n activity based awarding of invites on their Forum. Now, lets have a detailed look at the phone and specs below. Actually One+ One smartphone matches almost all specifications of hardwares latest smartphones except little highs and lows.
Screen:- OnePlus one carries a 5.5 inch 1920×1080 JDI display with 400+ PPI.In addition, it will feature TOL (Touch On Lens) modules which eliminates the distance between the touch sensor and display panel, while also being 300% more shatterproof than the competing OGS technology.
The screen is equipped with both CABC and DRAM technology. This new and innovative technologies sense when the contents on your screen are dynamic, and consume less energy when the image is static, allowing the vivid 5.5” display to consume even less power than normal 5.0” displays with the same brightness.

Hardware Specs:- The 'Never settle' slogan of OnePlus says all. Impressive specs for a small price, thats what everybody says about this phone. All those Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quadcore chipset with Adreno 330 GPU + 3GB RAM to support, 3100mAh battery, full hd 5.5" screen, 13MP sony made camera on rear and 5MP font facing one are of a high end smartphone costing around $700 in USA, over €600/£550 in Europe. But not anymore, if you can obtain an invite , an One+ one containing all these yours for $299 or $349 in few weeks.
Camera:-
Boasting a 13 megapixel Sony Exmor IMX214 camera with f/2.0 aperture, the OnePlus One camera takes amazing pictures even in low light conditions. Shoot anytime, anywhere for bright, sharp photos.Our camera boasts 6 physical lenses. Your photos will be more precise and detailed without suffering from distortion often caused by lower apertures, OnePlus claims. But so far proper camera samples shows the camera will perform well indeed.
The custom camera app by cyanogenmod team has been praised for its easiness and features. There are many capture modes like sepia, black and white, natural etc which can be access via swipe on screen and all settings are also easy accessible. There many still resolution options available in the camera app. Another important thing is OnePlus one can record 4K(2160p) videos with some great details, with 1080p and 720p 120fps slow motion mode also possible. Overview of Other Specs:-
LTE/4G:- With many LTE/4G, 3G and GSM bands onboard , this phone will work with many networks across the world. Although couple of 4G bands missing, it may not work with some network's LTE, but 3G and GSM surely will. As it comes with unlocked(carrier free) simfree, no need to worry about going abroad and work on foreign networks.
Battery:- A non-removable 3100mAh battery in packed inside this big phone to help with its demands for more power. But some early reviews indicate, its not lasting long enough. May be the custom Cyanogenmod 11s OS comes with the phone is not optimized well enough for battery saving.
Cyanogenmod 11s:- The OS running on OnePlus one is a custom Cyanogenmod version 11s which is based on Android 4.4 AOSP. Cyanogenmod is famous for its bloatware free additional features operating system. Its very fast and smooth, packed with some cool features- tapping on sleep mode to wake up or draw gestures on screen to open favourite apps or even call 'snapdradon' to start from off state etc. It has the ability to turn off onscreen buttons(android ones) and use either capacitive buttons or onscreen ones.
Misc specs:- Apart from above main specs, this great phone has all usual facilities available on current smartphones including , Miracast, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 2.4/5GHz 802.11 b/g/n/ac, GPS/Glonass support, NFC, USB OTG, Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Promximity sensor, Light snesor etc.

There has been some bashing about One's packaging, as the phones sent out to 100 winners of smash contest( still official shipping not started) were without official packing. So Oneplus team themselves came out and showed their original packaging soon after. Below is the images of official retail packaging.

How to Buy OnePlus One :-
At the moment OnePlus one can only be baught by using an invite. But to get an invite you need to know somebody who recently baught the phone(they get some invites) or get involved in the forum and take part in their invite contests. If you are lucky , you might get one. We dont know yet whether straight forward selling without invite system will be there in future. OnePlus is doing this way, because they wont be able to afford huge demands if it happens and this way they can control how much to produce and avoid delays in shipping etc.
