Shot Note Paper Pads Designed to Be Scanned by iPhone

Shot Note brings a real-world paper notebook inside your iiPhone. The free app, which also works with the latest-gen iPod Touch, works in combination with the Shot Note stationery from Japanese company King Jim, and lets you import your hand-written and drawn scrawlings into the app.

The paper is marked up to facilitate accurate scanning with the iPhone’s camera. In the corners are markers which the app detects, stretching and rescaling the page to fit full-screen. And if you fill out the date and number fields on the page, these sections will be read by OCR and become searchable. You can also manually add a title and tags to each note.

You might have some trouble finding King Jim’s paper products outside of Japan, but it really shouldn’t be too hard to make your own with a little studying of the layout. I’m thinking of drawing some corner-blobs onto the white-board in my Spanish classes to make copying the teachers notes a little easier.

And I know you’re all asking one question right now: “Does it work with Evernote?” The answer is “Yes.” You can send you’re notes straight to Evernote and have them OCRed for you.

Shot Note is free, and available in you local App Store.
