Sony reported a large-scale hacking attempts on the network: a global 93000 accounts affected
Sony suffers from another hacking attempt on its networks. But this time, the company seems to be better prepared, and apparently all credit card information is safe. Philip Reitinger, Chief Information Security Officer of Sony, has an article posted on the official PlayStation blog explaining the incident.
According Reitinger the Sony Entertainment Network, PlayStation Network, Sony Online Entertainment Network affected. The company stopped about 93,000 user accounts on all these networks and warned users to transfer data via e-mail log-in to secure.
Details are scarce at this point, but a Sony spokesman is quoted saying that his company attempts to hack 35,000 accounts in the U.S. and another 24,000 in Europe between October 7 and 10 were observed. Again, Sony claims that "if you have a credit card associated with your account, your credit card number is not in danger.."
In July, Japan was the last country PlayStation Network services resume after Sony reported a serious breach of data in April.
