A newer version of Ramnit worm has acquired password and other details of over 45000 Facebook users. The newer version of this worm first appeared online on April of 2010.
Earlier, the Ramnit worm was used by hackers to steal information from various banks. This is the first time this worm is used to steal data from Facebook.
Seculert, An Israeli cyber threat management company was the first ones to discover Ramnit used against Facebook.
Seculert's research lab has also announced that Over half of the hacked Facebook accounts are from Uk and France. The lab has also noted that spam links are sent as messages to the friends of hacked user (this helps the hackers to spread the worm).
Facebook has already stated that they will alert the affected users to change their passwords.
They have also asked the users not to click unfamiliar links in Facebook.
I hope that Facebook comes up with a quick and easy solution.
